11. Any Other Business (prior notification preferable) Posted 1 November 2011 Swapmeet 2011 Once again the annual Swapmeet was held on 20th March and attracted about 80 visitors, although members of the Horam Club were few and far between. More than 20 tables were booked and thanks go to Terry Inman, Chris and Davina Pilbeam, Robert Richardson and Head Chef Graham Tester for all their hard work in organising and running the event. Although numbers were down on last year the organisers still donated about £350 to club funds. Posted 1 April 2011 Electric Fence I need to remind you all that if the electric fence is not put back in place (it does need to be connected to the battery) then the cows will churn the strip into a pulp. It has been left down on two occasions now and it is not in the best of conditions as a result.
Graham has volunteered to roll the strip, but the rain has made this impossible until the water levels subside. So please ensure the fence is put back up if you are the last person to leave the field.
Happy flying, Rob Creasey (Chairman) Corrected 26 April 2010
Safety Netting Anyone visiting the field will now see the safety netting installed in front of the "picnic" start benches. I believe this is an extremely important addition to the safety of all members when using the club flying site. I would like to thank Less Kemp for all the efforts he put into sourcing and making this safety device, and Simon Manser for helping to erect it.
Rob Creasey (Chairman) Posted 13 March 2010 Report on Horam Swapmeet Just some wee words to update you on our SwapMeet this year. In view of the difficult circumstances this year, all four of us who organise the SwapMeet were really pleased with the result, a clear profit of £400+ on the day.
Very sociable meet with lots of boxes and bits disappearing out the door, all this with the aroma of bacon sandwiches provided by the Ringmer Bodgers Burger Bar (Graham Tester). As well as the new faces we welcomed on the day, it was nice to see the regular faces that have supported us over the years and we now look forward to the event as a social gathering as well.
Me? Well I did come away with 3 kits to build, one of which is a single-channel rudder-only from Australia, which shows what sort of anorak I am. My thanks again to the team: Chris Pilbeam, Robert Richardson, Graham Tester and me. Let's hope the next one will be even better. It will be our 10th year!
Terry Inman Posted 23 March 2010 Request for help from Terry Can we ask if any of the club members have a Mills .75 available (or any parts worn or otherwise) that they would part with. This is to support a Vic Smeed TomBoy project that one of our members is competing in this year. Me being the engine guru, I'm trying to sort out a good runner for him. Posted 23 March 2010 Horam Swapmeet The 2010 Swapmeet is on 14th March. This will be at Horam Village Hall, 1/4 mile south of Horam village centre on A267, next to Merrydown Cider. Doors open 10:00. Entry £2. Refreshments available. Tables still available.
The Club will have a shared table for members' use provided that those using it make a donation to club funds, make their own arrangements to collect payments from customers and take away any unsold items on the day.
To book your own table, contact Robert Richardson on 01825 762372 or 07850 843917, or Email rob.richardson@talktalk.net Revised 03 March 2010 New Member Induction Days Saturday 13 Feb. 10.00am - 1.00pm and Sunday 21 Feb. 1.00pm - 3.00pm Special helicopter and fixed wing sessions for new members both experienced flyers and novices. Isfield Fête Jason Markey has organised a static display of both helis and fixed-wing at the Isfield Fête, on Sunday 17 July. Thanks, Jason. Must be good for the sport and the club. Posted 13 July 2011 BBQ and FunFly Day On Sunday 10 July the club club held its first FunFly and BBQ of the season. The day turned out sunny with fairly light winds (compared to the previous few days). About 25 people turned up, and this included some fellow flyers from the Wealden club. We all enjoyed ourselves and we were entertained by both fixed wing and helicopter flying - with no crashes. Thanks go to Chris Pilbeam, Terry Inman, and Graham and Steve Tester who cooked several times during the day for everyone, and other committee members for helping organise a successful day. Pix of the event are now on the Image Gallery. Posted 13 July 2011

Horam MFC Annual General Meeting The Club's Annual General Meeting will be held on Friday 10 December 2010 in Horam Village Hall starting at 19:30. The hall is on the A267 to the south of the village - SatNav address is TN21 0JE. Refreshments will be available. This is the same venue in which we held the Swap Meet earlier in the year and is NOT the same place where we held previous AGMs.
Everyone is strongly encouraged to attend and discuss/raise issues that affect the club. The agenda / nomination details have been mailed to you.
UPDATE: We have hired the hall for the evening; members are welcome to bring suitable indoor planes & helicopters and fly after the A.G.M. Updated 4 December 2010
URGENT! - Temporary Flying Site Closure The committee has just learned that there can be no flying for 2 Saturdays (30th Oct and 13th Nov) and also Thursday 18th November as the farmer is having an organised shoot on those days. Apologies for the last-minute notice. The shoots are planned for 09:00 to 13:00 so flying MAY be possible in the afternoon. Amended 1 November 2010 Another FunFly and Family Bar-B-Q
We are having another Funfly day (with delicious and plentiful FREE Bar-B-Q) at the field on Sunday 5 September 2010. Starting at 10.30 with lunch about 12:00 there will be events for both fixed wing and heli pilots, so bring out that plane or heli and have a go. To help us with the catering, please tell us if you are coming (with numbers): Contact Rob Creasey on 01825 840374 or email rob@creaseyr.fsnet.co.uk Posted 18 July 2010 Flying Site Update
As there are no cows in the field, we are removing the power supply for the time being but leaving the fence in place to stop anyone driving on the strip. If you lower the fence to fly then the last person leaving the field MUST replace it, to keep the strip in good condition. Posted 17 June 2010 BMFA at Hop Farm The B.M.F.A. are intending to have a stand at the Hop Farm weekend event at Paddock Wood in September and are seeking volunteers to help man it. If selected all volunteers will receive free admission to the event. Names to Nigel Cole at nigecole@nildram.co.uk Posted 8 May 2010 Bar-B-Q This year's BBQ was well attended, and blessed with good weather. Everyone enjoyed the BBQ, and our thanks go to the catering team Chris and Graham for the great grub. The good weather meant we were able to hold some informal FunFly competitions (not possible for the last two years): Spot Landing and Timed Flight (person who lands nearest to 2 minutes) were closely contended. The chairman won the spot landing (with a glider) and John Cobblestone won the 2 minute comp. Full results below. A few pix have been added to the Image Gallery. Position

The committee have decided not to purchase a solar powered charger for a variety of reasons. John Salmon has kindly agreed to be the club’s battery manager so there should be no more problems with the fence not working.
The council have been asked to commence mowing the strip as soon as possible. Posted 24 April 2010 New Site plan posted Showing revised No-Fly areas. This makes clear that the area behind the hedge at the back of the pits and parking area is a No-Fly area. Posted 2 February 2010

35Mhz Interference Further tests were carried out at the site on Friday afternoon, again we had positive locks on channels 83 and 84, but what is more concerning these were around the pits area, At the moment we are still unable to say what is causing this, therefore could all 35Mhz users please take extra care with your safety procedures and ensure that your models are properly restrained at all times.
We will be seeking further advice/assistance from the BMFA’s technical team.
Starting Tables
The new starting tables have now been installed at the field, please note they have been installed to be used primarily for safe starting of your models, please feel free to use these for socialising with other members but please vacate them if a member wishes to start his model.
Proposed Changes to Starting Procedures
The club safety officer has advised that we as a club should adopt having a
separate area away from the pits for the start-up of all models; this system is used
by the majority of model flying clubs this will be discussed at the next committee
meeting and will be adopted and implemented if agreed upon. This would also act
as a queueing system for flying slots, by placing your prepared model onto one of
the supplied starting tables.
